It’s been over a month, but the Heeramandi fever hasn’t left the internet yet. While the Sanjay Leela Bhansali show was in the limelight for both good and bad reasons upon its release on May 1, the one person who was targeted and imitated the most was Sharmin Segal. Several people took to social media to lip sync to her “expressionless” shayari, “Ek baar dekhlijiye, deewana bana dijiye, jalne ko hai tayar hum, parwana bana dijiye.” The latest ones to join the trend is the trio — Nia Sharma, Jannat Zubair, and Reem Shaikh. All three, who could be seen sitting on a show set, could be seen saying the dialogue together with quite a serious face. Sharing the video, Nia and Reem in a joint post wrote, “Pyaari saheliyaan from the Laughter chef Mandi.”

The video got a lot of attention, with many wondering if this was a dig at Sharmin Segal.

The television stars, however, haven’t tried to clarify anything regarding the video.

Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, which marked the web series debut of Sanjay Leela Bhansali, made quite some headlines for its larger-than-life set and costumes, as well as, the “biased” casting of Sharmin Segal, who is the niece of the Padmavat filmmaker.

Several people associated with the series talked in favour of Sharmin, however, the discussion around it hasn’t stopped yet. The series also stars Manisha Koirala, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sonakshi Sinha, Richa Chadha, and Fardeen Khan, among others. Heeramandi is currently streaming on Netflix.
