This is not the first time the actor has made a generous donation. On Wednesday, Akshay made headlines for organising a langar outside his house in Mumbai. A few weeks ago, he made headlines for putting his payment on hold for his film Bade Miyan Chote Miyan until other crew members were paid. The news came after Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) President BN Tiwari claimed producer Vashu Bhagnani owes over Rs 65 lakh to crew members.

Akshay Kumar had also contributed Rs 3 crore for the construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. The actor also shared a video urging others to do the same. He said, “Its our turn now.”

During the pandemic, Akshay contributed a whopping Rs 25 crore to the PM Cares Fund as well as Rs 1 crore to cricketer-MP Gautam Gambir’s foundation.

Taking to Twitter, Akshay Kumar wrote, “This is that time when all that matters is the lives of our prople and we need to do anything and everything it takes.”

Reacting to Akshay’s whopping donation, his wife and author Twinkle Khanna said on X, “When I asked him if he was sure as it was such a massive amount and we need to liquidate funds, he just said, ‘I had nothing when I started and now that I am in this position, how can I hold back from doing whatever I can for those who have nothing?'”

Akshay Kumar is gearing up for the release of his film Khel Khel Mein, which is set to clash with Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor-starrer Stree 2 on Independence Day. The movie, also starring Vaani Kapoor, Taapsee Pannu, Ammy Virk and Fardeen Khan, will mark the actor’s third release of the year after Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Sarfira.
