KGF star Yash has started shooting for his much-awaited film Toxic. The Kannada actor announced the news by sharing a photo of himself on his social media handles. The film, first announced in December, will be directed by Geethu Mohandas, and is reportedly set the backdrop of crime and drugs.

On Thursday, the actor took to his Instagram handle to share a photo of himself along with the film’s producer, K Venkata Narayana. In the photo, the actor-producer duo can be seen shaking hands and sharing a smile. The actor captioned the photo: “The journey begins #Toxic”.

Yash wore a white shirt and sported a bearded look in the photo.

Soon after the actor shared the picture, his fans flooded the comments section of his post with good wishes. One fan called him ‘the real hero’, while many others wished the actor “the very best” for his new project.

The cast of the film is still under wraps. After the film’s announcement on December 8, it was speculated that actor Kareena Kapoor will join the cast and play the role of Yash’s sister. However, the reports weren’t confirmed by the makers.

Reports of actors such as Nayanthara, Shruti Haasan, Kiara Advani, Tara Sutaria and Sai Pallavi being associated with the action-thriller are also being circulated online. None of them, except Tara Sutaria, have reacted to these reports. She took to her Instagram Stories and clarified, “The articles released over the last few days about a project and I are false and not shared by me.”

Days before his birthday on January 8, Yash released a note that read, “It’s been nearly a month since we announced Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups, and the love and appreciation you have showered means the world o me. Your excitement, reactions, theories, and analysis encourage me to do more.”

A source told Hindustan Times, “The film is set between the 1950s and 1970s. An entire world of Toxic has been created — a larger-than-life version of that era, yet very authentic. The set is situated on the outskirts of Bangalore, and the level of detail is something that will blow the audience’s mind.”

The pan-India film is scheduled to hit the big screen on 10 April, 2025. Yash last starred in KGF: Chapter 2, which remains one of the highest-grossing Indian films in history. Toxic will be released after a gap of three years from his last film, which is highly unusual for mainstream Indian stars.
