Oscar winning composer AR Rahman’s daughter Khatija Rahman is making her debut as a music director with Halitha Shameem’s ambitious film, Minmini. After watching the premiere of the film, Rahman was all praise for the entire team of Minmini, and of course, Khatija too.  “Any news about Khatija will have millions of people taunting her for it. I believe she has answered them all with her work. May God bless her with much more success,” said Rahman.

The legendary composer also spoke about how Minmini was unlike anything he has seen before in Tamil cinema. “Halitha and Khatija feel like new voices. Be it the direction, or her conviction, this is the first time I am seeing something like this in Tamil. Khatija’s work is really good, and she has set a standard for herself,” said Rahman, who also spoke highly of cinematographer and producer Manoj Paramahamsa’s belief in Minmini. “Manoj has done a great job in producing this, and his camerawork. It is important to support new voices, especially women. And he is really courageous and generous.”

Here’s the Jukebox of Minmini

Talking about how Minmini is a refreshing change to the films that are now becoming successes in Tamil cinema, Rahman said, “There are people who are running away from Tamil cinema because it is too violent, but this film will bring them back. Minmini will get fans for Tamil cinema.” Rounding off the brief media interaction with his wishes for Khatija, Rahman urged people to give Minmini a shot. “I have seen Khatija’s progress over the past ten years. After giving up on music midway, she resumed it later, and has gained the confidence to do music. What is really important is a director’s vision, and the team. She is lucky to have got this team, as it is a good team that complements our talent further.”
