Though an ardent fan of the self-proclaimed atheist Kamal Haasan, Lokesh Kanagaraj‘s belief system is intact. And hence, ahead of the shooting of his next film Coolie, starring ‘Superstar’ Rajinikanth, the director has visited Sabarimala temple in Kerala. Lokesh was accompanied by writer-filmmaker Rathna Kumar, who co-wrote Leo.

Rathna took to social media to share pictures from the temple. Lokesh, Rathna, and their friends were all clad in black shirt and mundu.

Upon returning to Chennai, Lokesh Kanagaraj will begin the shoot of Coolie, which marks the 171st film of ‘Superstar’ Rajinikanth. Produced by Sun Pictures, the film reportedly features Rajinikanth as a smuggler. Anirudh Ravichander is composing the music for the movie, which will be released in 2025. Other cast and crew details are still under wraps.

Lokesh has the longest line-up of films in Tamil currently. After Coolie, he will join hands with Karthi for Kaithi 2, which will tell what happens to Dilli after the first part. The film is also part of Lokesh Cinematic Universe, which comprises Vikram and Leo.

After Kaithi, the filmmaker will work with Suriya in a standalone film on Rolex’s character from Vikram. The universe is expected to conclude with Vikram 2, which will mark the second collaboration of Lokesh and Kamal Haasan.
