Film actor Madhoo rose to fame after she appeared in Mani Ratnam’s 1992 film Roja and as her career took off, Madhoo found something that she believed to be her lucky charm. In a recent interview, Madhoo recalled an incident when she got to play cricket with Amitabh Bachchan and actually helped in winning the match. So much so that Amitabh Bachchan picked her up and took a victory lap with her around the stadium.

Talking to Bollywood Bubble, Madhoo recalled that back in the 1990s, she had once heard Ronit Roy talked about his blue sapphire stone being lucky for him and as soon as she heard it, Madhoo knew that she too wanted to wear the stone. She then shared an anecdote from the time when she participated in a charity cricket match between cricketers and celebrities. Here, she was playing in a team that was led by Amitabh Bachchan. “I was playing in Bachchan saab’s team, he was our captain and I was one of the players. That stadium in Hyderabad, there were so many people, some 50,000 or 5,000 people and the claps were resounding,” she recalled.

Madhoo said that when she actually went up to bat, she hit the ball and managed to score two runs. In the end too, she caught the ball and helped in getting the last wicket. “Then I heard the claps of those thousands of people. I never heard that as an actor but I felt that,” she recalled. Madhoo shared how Amitabh Bachchan celebrated the victory that day and said, “Amit ji picked me up and did a victory lap. I just knew this stone was lucky,” she said.

Madhoo will soon be seen in the Hindi film Kartam Bhugtam. She was last seen in the Ravi Teja film Eagle, which released in January. She is best known for her work in films like Phool Aur Kaante, Roja and Gentleman among others.
