After taking the box office by storm in 2023 with Jailer, helmed by Nelson Dilipkumar, ‘Thalaivar’ Rajinikanth is set to return to the big screen in his daughter Aishwarya’s latest directorial venture Lal Salaam. Slated for release on February 9, the movie features Rajinikamth in an extended cameo role.

Ahead of the release of Lal Salaam, the makers of the film held an audio launch event, coinciding with Republic Day, at the Sri Sairam Institute of Technology in Chennai, attended by the film’s cast and crew, along with Rajinikanth’s family members. Now, a video from the event has gone viral, featuring a mini Rajinikanth, exuding just as much grace and winning over millions of hearts.

In the video, Rajinikanth’s daughter and director Soundarya Rajinikanth’s eldest son Ved can be seen enjoying the iconic Tamil song “Style Style Thaan” from Thalaivar’s 1995 blockbuster Baashha. As the camera focuses on him, the little kid is seen imitating his grandfather’s iconic Salaam gesture, not once but thrice, in an adorable manner, earning immense love from all corners.

During the same event, Rajinikanth had rejected rumours about a rivalry with ‘Thalapathy’ Vijay. “Vijay grew up in front of my eyes,” Rajinikanth recalled shooting one of his older films at Vijay’s house. He continued, “During the shooting of Dharmathin Thalaivan, he was just 13 years old, and looked at me from upstairs. After the shooting, SA Chandrasekar introduced Vijay to me and said that he was interested in acting. He asked me to tell Vijay to concentrate on his studies first. I advised him to complete his schooling.”

Meanwhile, the event also grabbed attention for a statement made by Aishwarya. While addressing the gathering, she said that her father is not a “sanghi” like everyone thinks. “If he is a Sanghi, he wouldn’t have accepted to be part of Laal Salam,” she said. However, when asked about her statement, Rajinikanth, at the Chennai airport, said, “She didn’t say Sanghi is a bad word anywhere.”

Starring Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth in the lead roles, Lal Salaam is bankrolled by Subaskaran Allirajah under Lyca Productions. While its music is composed by AR Rahman, Vishnu Rangasamy is Lal Salaam’s cinematographer.
