With a combined worldwide gross of over Rs 2,660 crore from three movies — Siddharth Anand’s Pathaan, Atlee Kumar’s Jawan and Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki — Shah Rukh Khan bid adieu to 2023 in a manner no one else could dream of. And just like that, Bollywood’s Baadshah entered the Filmfare Awards 2024 race in style with a nomination for Best Actor In A Leading Role (Male) for his performances in Jawan and Dunki.

In fact, among the five nominees in this category, SRK was the sole actor to be recognised for two films. Other nominees for the award included Ranbir Kapoor (Animal), Ranveer Singh (Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani), Sunny Deol (Gadar 2) and Vicky Kaushal (Sam Bahadur). The Filmfare Awards 2024 ceremony held in Gujarat on Sunday, however, witnessed Ranbir taking home the coveted Black Lady.

Now, SRK fans have started flooding social media with posts expressing their disappointment over him not receiving any awards despite having a tremendously successful year at the box office.

“If #ShahRukhKhan doesn’t deserve Best Actor for #Jawan, then believe no one else deserves it. Anyways, I said this 3 days back only ke serious mathh lo Filmfare ko. SRK aise chindi awards se bohot bara hai yaad rakhna humesha. (Don’t take Filmfare seriously. SRK is far better than such awards, don’t forget),” a fan noted on X (formerly Twitter).

Guys chill #ShahRukhKhan is already won Indian of the year award which is bigger than any paid awards.

“Megastar #ShahRukhKhan made hindi cinema give a nationwide HGOTY (Highest Grosser Of The Year) after many years with #Jawan. Ek black statue ko lekar kya bolna. Apna stature bahut bada hai. (What can we say about a black statue more than that? His stature is even bigger),” another user noted.

Not only did Shah Rukh Khan fail to win in his nominated category, his movies too didn’t receive significant recognition at the event. While Shilpa Rao bagged the award for Best Playback Singer (Female) for the song “Besharam Rang” from Pathaan, Vicky Kaushal was honoured with the trophy for Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Male) for his performance in Dunki, and Jawan bagged just two awards — Best Action and Best VFX.

SRK won his last Filmfare Award in 2011 when he was named Best Actor for his performance in Karan Johar’s My Name Is Khan. He also won in the same in category for Chak De! India (2008), Swades (2005), Mohabbatein (2001), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1999), Dil To Pagal Hai (1998), Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1996), Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa (1995) and Baazigar (1994). Apart from that, he also bagged the award for Best Performance in a Negative Role for Anjaam (1995), the Swiss Consulate Special Award in 2003 and the Power Award in 2004 and 2005.
