Stand-up comedian and rapper Munawar Faruqui had been a dominant presence on Bigg Boss 17 ever since he entered the house, with many anticipating his eventual triumph. However, it was only when he finally lifted the coveted trophy at the finale held on Sunday that Faruqui eased off. Along with the trophy, he also took home the prize money of Rs 50 lakhs and a brand-new car.

For those unsure of how he emerged as the winner, videos have surfaced online showing the streets of Dongri in Mumbai, Faruqui’s native area, flooded by thousands of his fans after the results were announced. In the video, people can be seen thronging the Dongri streets as they chant “Munna Munna” in unison with great enthusiasm and festive spirit, underscoring the influence he has had on his audiences.

Meanwhile, following his victory, Faruqui took to Instagram to thank his supporters and show host Salman Khan for all the love and guidance. Sharing a photo of himself posing with Salman Khan while holding the Bigg Boss 17 trophy, Faruqui wrote, “Bohot Bohot Shukriya Janta❤️ Aapke pyaar aur support ke liye Aakhir kar Trophy Dongri aa hi gayi 🏆❤️ (Thanks a lot people. With your love and support, the trophy has finally reached Dongri itself). Special thanks to Bade Bhai Salman Khan sir for all your guidance ❤️. Saari #munawarkijanta aur #munawarkewarrior ka dil se shukriya ❤️. #Karliya 🏆 (Heartfelt thanks to #munawarkijanta and #munawarkewarrior. We did it!).”

Speaking to The Indian Express after his win, Faruqui said, “The feeling was unreal, the way my journey has been… that moment was such that I could feel the weight of that trophy. This trophy has cost me a lot, but it is worth it. In the end, what was important was not just taking the trophy home, but a lot many things.”

When asked if this incident also took a toll on him mentally, Munawar revealed, “I have been through a lot of mental breakdowns, there was not a single day that I have not cried under the blanket or in the bathroom. I felt very helpless, mentally too I was affected. But I will have to face it.”

While Bekaaboo actor Abhishek Kumar emerged as the runner-up of Salman Khan’s show, South actor Mannara Chopra, actor Ankita Lokhande and content creator Arun Mashettey, aka Achaanak Bhayaanak, claimed the third, fourth and fifth positions, respectively.
