Advancement in technology has changed the game across many fields, including cinema. However, it also has its share of disadvantages. With everyone on the sets of a film being equipped with a smartphone, it is getting harder for producers and studios to keep a lid on plot details and other surprises. In a world where films are relying more heavily on star cameos, this can lead to major problems for producers. Director Lokesh Kanagaraj has been affected by leaks not once but twice in his five-film-old career. After being forced to reveal the presence of Suriya in his film, Vikram, due to certain behind-the-scenes stills from the film being leaked to the media, he took to social media to condemn the leaked video of actor Nagarjuna from the sets of Rajinikanth’s Coolie

A dejected Lokesh wrote, “Two months of hard work by many people have gone in vain because of one recording. I humbly request everyone not to engage in such practices, as they spoil the overall experience. Thank you.” Although the makers revealed character posters of the primary cast, including Rajinikanth, Nagarjuna, Soubin Shahir, Upendra, Sathyaraj, and Shruti Haasan, the clip of Nagarjuna in action revealed details about his character. And this was enough of a reason for Lokesh to get irked.

In contrast, a recent video featuring Rajinikanth from the sets of Coolie became quite the rage with the Superstar dancing to “Manasillaayo,” his Vettaiyan number, on the festive occasion of Onam. Considering that this was an official release, there was no problem. But this time around, the clip of Nagarjuna was was obtained illegally.

Apart from Coolie, Rajinikanth is also waiting for the release of the star-studded Vettaiyan, which features the likes of Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh, Dushara Vijayan, and Rana Daggubati. The TJ Gnanavel-directed film will be released on October 10.
