Actor Vidya Balan is known for wearing some of the finest sarees, and while fashion trends change with every season, Vidya has always been loyal to her identity. But, despite her immense love for the traditional Indian attire, Vidya recently revealed that she only owns 25 sarees, which is significantly lesser than what one might imagine.
In a chat on the YouTube channel Unfiltered by Samdish, Vidya was asked about the size of her wardrobe, and she said that it isn’t as large as one might imagine. “It’s not at all huge as compared to most other women, and definitely other actors. But I am a minimalist, I have to say that. I don’t possess too many things,” she said, and added, “Everyone keeps asking me how many sarees do I have because I wear a lot of sarees. I have 25 sarees.”
When the host expressed his shock at the number of sarees Vidya owns, she said that she keeps giving away her sarees as she doesn’t get the opportunity to repeat them. “I keep giving away sarees. Because what will I do holding on to them? I don’t get a chance to repeat my sarees so the one I have kept are ones that have some sort of emotional meaning to me,” she said.

Recently, actor Ayushmann Khurrana revealed that Bollywood actors don’t actually buy the clothes that they are seen wearing, but actually rent them. “Pura Bollywood rent pe hai. Aapko lagta hai hum kapde kharedte hai? (Whole Bollywood is on rent. Do you think we buy all our clothes?) We hire stylists, they source the clothes and return the clothes. Where will we take so many clothes,” he told Mashable India.
In an earlier interview, actor Mrunal Thakur also shared that she does not spend too much money on her clothes and whatever she wears during the promotions of her films is actually sourced from stylists. Mrunal told Galatta India that she has never spent more than Rs 2,000 on a top. “Because whatever is expensive, you cannot wear them over and over again. Yes, having a classic statement collection in your wardrobe is good but wearing a brand for the heck of it is a waste of money. I would rather invest that money in food, in some plants, house, or a land where I can do farming,” she said.
