Trust Twinkle Khanna to bring a smile to your face with her wry take on everything topical. The actor-turned-author turned her gaze towards the Anant Ambani-Radhika Merchant pre-wedding bash earlier this month, which was attended by who’s who from India and abroad. Bollywood celebs, including Twinkle’s husband Akshay Kumar, performed at the event, as did the three Khans, singers Rihanna, Akon and Diljit Dosanjh.

Writing for Times of India, Twinkle wrote that she followed the ‘Ambani festivities in what seems like a paradigm time warp through Instagram’. Other than the three Khans — Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan — performing, she also spotted Akshay Kumar singing a ‘robust song’. “He then performs a punching dance step that he repeats 33 times with so much force that it feels like he is about to dig another oil well through the stage and into the Jamanagar soil,” she wrote hilariously. She added that she saw Rihanna’s performance, for which the star was reportedly paid somewhere between Rs 66 to 74 crore. “Her act, though, is not half as grand as Nita bhabhi’s performance of the Vishwambhari Stuti dedicated to Ma Ambe, an avatar of Goddess Durga.”

She also wrote how her sister Rinkie Khanna pointed out how everyone, including them, is supposed to throw an extravaganza and match up to the Ambanis. Twinkle said that it is impossible for her and husband Akshay Kumar to match the ‘taam-jhaam’. She said that while she is uncoordinated and can’t match up to Nita Ambani’s performance, husband Akshay sticks to his 10 pm bedtime. She added that both of them get anxious about hosting dinner parties for over 20 people.

While Twinkle Khanna didn’t attend the Jamnagar festivities, Akshay danced to “Gur Nalo Ishq Mitha”. He had earlier told Hindustan Times about his performance, “It happened around 3 in the morning. It was grand of course, but besides that the Ambani family was so loving and caring, they left no stone unturned to make everyone feel included. Anant and Radhika were very gracious hosts, may Mahakaal bless the happy couple.”
