Comedian Rohan Joshi is punching up– and shaking a few trophies on the shelf. The comedian on Tuesday posted a reel, wondering if everything was like Bollywood award shows. The result is wickedly sarcastic.

In the reel, captioned as “Award for Best Reels Critics Choice”, Rohan Joshi cleverly differentiated the baffling irony in award show categories, where the ‘popular’ choice winner is sometimes not the expected ideal candidate, who is often given the ‘critics choice’ honour.

He highlights this in every joke, as he keeps reminding the audience of the bizarreness of the two. “The best cure for diabetes goes to two kg sugar. The award for best diabetes cure critics choice goes to insulin. Award for best green vegetable goes to mutton. Award for best green vegetable jury critics choice goes to spinach. And the award for popular choice best medicine goes to AIDS. Ok fine, best medicine critics choice awards goes to COVID vaccine. Whatever Rohit, only four people saw vaccine.'”

The reel received several comments, including by actor Elli Avram, who posted laugh emojis. “Totally fake. Where are the names of 50 sponsors before the award name😂,” while another wrote, “Critics choice is to appease the cinema lovers and main award is for sponsors 😂”.

Another user also noted how Rohan Joshi has come a long way, as he had in the past written several awards shows before he became more popular with the now defunct comedy group AIB.

The video generated conversation especially after the recent Filmfare awards, which has been called out by a section of people online for snubbing Shah Rukh Khan and for not giving Vikrant Massey the best popular actor award, something which went to Ranbir Kapoor for his controversial film Animal.
