Telugu actor Teja Sajja is flying high after the success of his pan-India spectacle HanuMan, in which he plays the leading role. The actor, who has been working in the Telugu film industry ever since he was a child artist, says that HanuMan will be remembered by children of this generation, much like how fans across generations remember Chiranjeevi’s 2002 blockbuster Indra.

Teja, whose film is dominating the box office, leaving behind Mahesh Babu’s Guntur Kaaram, because a household name as a child artist when he played the role of a younger Chiranjeevi in Indra.

Talking to indianexpress.com, Teja Sajja says that he really values the trust moviegoers have in him now with the success of Hanuman.

“The credibility that is built amongst the audience and the kind of good feeling that they will have after watching the film is most important for me,” said Teja. Going down memory lane, he said, “I had the biggest break when I was six years old. I did a film with Chiranjeevi sir called Indra. I did 15 films before that also, but Indra did really well. After that film, I didn’t know what a great thing had happened to me. But even after 20 years when people recognize me with that film, I feel we did something great. The same thing has happened with HanuMan also. This will have a long shelf life. Hits and superhits might come, but this will be in the hearts of kids. The kids of this generation will remember me for a very long time.”

Explaining his stance, Teja said, “I strongly believe that the story should be universal; otherwise, there is no point doing it. I will make sure that all my films release in all four south languages. But with Hindi, since it’s a very big market, we have to be right on our toes with what we are doing.”

While the Prasanth Varma directorial has crossed the Rs 250 crore mark worlwide, in India, it will soon cross the Rs 175 crore mark.

Prasanth has also announced a sequel for HanuMan, which is titled Jai Hanuman. The film is currently in pre-production stage. Teja had earlier revealed that he will be part of Jai Hanuman but not as the primary character.
