The first batch of winners of the 69th edition of the Filmfare Awards have been announced, with Vicky Kaushal and Meghna Gulzar’s film Sam Bahadur emerging as a frontrunner by clinching three awards. The ceremony, hosted by actors Aparshakti Khurana and Karishma Tanna, happened in Gujarat.

Sam Bahadur dominated the technical awards, securing victories in three significant categories. The film took home the honours for Best Sound Design, Best Costume Design, and Best Production Design. Ranbir Kapoor and filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s film, Animal, also made a mark by bagging two awards.

Ganesh Acharya was recognised with the Best Choreography Award for his work on the track ‘What Jhumka’ from the film Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. The film starred Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in lead roles. It was directed and produced by Karan Johar.

Additionally, Shah Rukh Khan’s blockbuster, Jawan, received accolades for Best VFX and Best Action.

Best Background Score – Harshavardhan Rameshwar for Animal

Best Production Design – Subrata Chakraborty and Amit Ray for Sam Bahadur

Best VFX- Red Chillies VFX for Jawan

Best Editing – Jaskunwar Singh Kohli and Vidhu Vinod Chopra for 12th Fail

Best Costume Design – Sachin Lovelekar, Divvya Gambhir and Nidhhi Gambhir for Sam Bahadur

Best Cinematography – Avinash Arun Dhaware for Three Of Us

Best Choreography – Ganesh Acharya for What Jhumka? from Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani

Best Action – Spiro Razatos, Anl Arasu, Craig Macrae, Yannick Ben, Kecha Khamphakdee and Sunil Rodrigues for Jawan

The curtain raiser event was held at the Mahatma Gandhi Exhibition and Convention Centre, Gandhinagar. The main event of the 69th Filmfare Awards 2024 will be held on Sunday.
