HanuMan director Prashanth Varma has pulled off what Telugu stars Prabhas and Om Raut couldn’t do with Adipurush. The director known for Awe and Zombie Reddy, has struck gold with his recent release HanuMan, which has become a huge hit despite its much smaller scale. In a recent interview, when Prashanth was asked about his take on Adipurush and he did not hold back.

Adipurush received severe backlash for its visual effects and dialogues. When asked if he saw Adipurush as a lesson to not do certain things with his film, Prashanth Varma said, “Not at all. Whether the film had happened or not, I would have made this film as it is now. Because those are the mistakes I would never do irrespective of… that film. That’s not my style of filmmaking… and me as a person also. That film didn’t affect my process of filmmaking at all.”

He added, “I would never do that.” When further probed, if Adipurush hurt him in any way, Prashanth said, “To be frank, there were a few sequences in the film where I went ‘woah’… they were so good. I could have never done this. We should give that credit. And there were sequences… seeing which I was really hurt. I was like ‘Arre I would have done it (differently). Every filmmaker feels that. And at the same time, as an audience also I could not agree with but then there were a few brilliant sequences.”

Starring Teja Sajja and Amirtha Iyer in the lead roles, HanuMan has collected over Rs 230 crore at the box office in a matter of 13 days. It has surpassed the collection of Mahesh Babu’s Guntur Kaaram, which surprised the industry. Prashanth has already begun the pre-production of the sequel of HanuMan, which will be turned into a big franchise.
