Ilaiyaraaja’s daughter Bhavatharini’s mortal remains have been brought back to Chennai from Sri Lanka. Bhavatharini passed away on Thursday. The late National award-winning singer was undergoing treatment for cancer in Sri Lanka. In Chennai, her mortal remains have been brought to Ilaiyaraaja’s home. Actors Karthi and Vishal Krishna were some of the first people from the film industry to arrive and pay respect.
Bhavatharini, 47, passed away on Thursday evening. Her last final rites will take place in Chennai on Saturday. Upon learning the news of her demise, condolences poured over from the film industry, wishing her family strength in such tough times.

Bhavatharini is remembered for her contribution to the music industry through several songs. Having made her singing debut with “Raasaiya”, Bhavatharini lend her melodious voice to numerous Tamil films, singing for composers like her father Ilaiyaraaja, as well as her brothers, Karthik Raja and Yuvan Shankar Raja. She also lent her vocals to compositions by Deva and Sirpy.
In 2002, Bhavatharini ventured into music composition with Revathy-directed Mitr, My Friend, followed by Phir Milenge, and several other films. Her last musical endeavour was for the Malayalam film Maayanadhi.
Bhavatharini is survived by her husband R Sabariraj.
