Days after a rape case was filed against Malayalam star Nivin Pauly based on a woman’s complaint that he sexually abused her in a Dubai hotel last year after promising her a role in a film, the actor voiced suspicions that the complaint is part of a larger conspiracy. He also suggested that people within the Malayalam film industry might be responsible for orchestrating it.

Nivin made these allegations in a complaint to Crime Branch ADGP H Venkatesh IPS, who oversees the Special Investigation Team (SIT) set up by the Kerala government to investigate sexual harassment allegations involving several industry insiders. He submitted his complaint directly at the crime branch headquarters.

In his plaint, Nivin asserted that the allegations were baseless and that he was innocent. He urged the officials to conduct a thorough investigation into the claims made against him, reiterating his belief that a serious conspiracy was at play, possibly involving members of the film industry.

After the police registered an FIR against Nivin under various IPC sections, including Section 376 (rape), the actor denied the allegations and stated that he would address the matter legally. Shortly after being charged, he addressed the media, where he denied knowing or ever meeting the complainant. According to the woman’s complaint, the alleged incident took place in November 2023.

Following the emergence of the allegations, several of Nivin’s friends and colleagues, including actor-director Vineeth Srinivasan and actors Parvathy Krishna and Bhagath Manuel, came forward to dispute the claims. Vineeth shared that they had been working together on the set of his film Varshangalkku Shesham during the period mentioned in the complaint.

Meanwhile, when the complainant appeared before the SIT recently to give her statement, where she claimed that her previous allegations were made while she was half-asleep and expressed concern that some unknown persons were attempting to sabotage the case, Mathrubhumi reported.
