Bollywood actor and television personality Malaika Arora’s father Anil Arora reportedly died by suicide after jumping from the sixth floor of a residential building in Bandra, Mumbai, on Wednesday morning. While sources close to the actor claim it was an accident, police told The Indian Express that “prima facie, it seems to be a case of suicide,” but they are investigating all possibilities.

Following the tragic incident, Malaika has arrived at her family residence in Mumbai from Pune. A video showing a visibly distraught Malaika entering the premises, surrounded by photographers, has gone viral on social media. Despite wearing a mask, Malaika is seen emotionally shaken and wiping away tears as she walks inside. Anil’s demise is said to have occurred around 10.30 am at their family residence Ayesha Manor in Bandra West, Mumbai.

Malaika’s former husband Arbaaz Khan, along with his family, including his father, renowned screenwriter Salim Khan, mother Sushila Charak (Salma Khan) and brother Sohail Khan, has arrived at the Aroras’ residence. A video showing Malaika’s boyfriend Arjun Kapoor arriving has gained widespread attention on social media, especially given recent rumours about their breakup. Malaika’s sister Amrita Arora and her son with Arbaaz, Arhaan Khan, have also arrived to pay their respects to Anil. The actor’s close friends Kim Sharma and Seema Sajdeh also were spotted as they reached the residence to offer support to their loved one during this difficult time.

Malaika had previously shared that her parents, Joyce Polycarp and Anil Arora, separated when she was 11 and her sister Amrita was six. She has spoken about the impact this had on them, mentioning that they were primarily raised by their mother. “I had a wonderful childhood, but it wasn’t easy. In fact, in retrospect, the word I would use to describe it is tumultuous. But tough times teach you important lessons too,” she once told Filmfare. Anil, originally from Punjab, had served in the Merchant Navy, while Joyce is a Malayali Christian.
