Farhan Akhtar first became popular as a director and soon after, he made his debut as an actor. While Farhan has done more films as an actor than a director, there is a separate fan base for his directorials. In the last few years, Farhan has announced two directorials – Jee La Zaraa and Don 3 – but it looks like they will take a back seat once again as he will now be seen in the lead role in Razneesh ‘Razy’ Ghai’s 120 Bahadur.

Farhan announced the film on Wednesday via Instagram. He shared a few posters of the film along with a short note. He shared that the film will be based on the life of Maj Shaitan Singh Bhati and the soldiers of Charlie company, 13 Kumaon regiment who fought the Battle of Rezang La during the Indo-China war in 1962. He shared in the caption, “What they accomplished will never be forgotten.”

His Don 3 actor Ranveer Singh dropped a few emojis in the comments section signalling his support. Zoya Akhtar also stopped a few emojis on the post. Farhan’s wife Shibani Dandekar shared, “🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 cannot wait for this one ❤️ good luck to the entire team 🤗”

Farhan had previously announced Jee Le Zaraa with Alia Bhatt, Priyanka Chopra and Katrina Kaif in 2021. Fans of the stars were quite excited as they heard the announcement of a film on female friendship to be made by the man who gave us Dil Chahta Hai. While there haven’t been many announcements about the film since then, Zoya recently shared on Expresso in Mumbai that the film was still in the works but they are yet to align the schedules of all the cast members and the director.

Farhan then announced Don 3 with Ranveer Singh in the lead role in August 2023. The film’s shoot is yet to be begin and the makers are yet to declare the female lead here. But with the announcement of 120 Bahadur, it appears that both Jee Le Zaraa and Don 3 will take a back seat now.

Who was Major Shaitan Singh Bhati?

Major Shaitan Singh Bhati was commanding the ‘C’ Company of the 13 Kumaon regiment who fought the Battle of Rezang La during the Indo-China war in 1962. He was deployed at Rezang La in the Chusul sector at a height of about 16,000 feet. On November 18, 1962, the Chinese attacked his company with heavy artillery. The troops fought back and during the action, Major Shaitan Singh moved from one post to another to boost the morale of his men. Even when he was seriously injured, he encouraged his men to keep fighting. When he was fatally injured, he ordered his men to move on so their lives could be saved. He was posthumously honoured with Param Vir Chakra.
