The Indian adaptation of Who Wants To Be Millionaire – Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) is returning with its 16th season. Hosted by megastar Amitabh Bachchan, KBC 16 will air on Sony Television from August 12. The promos for the new season have been quite well received by fans, and though the show carries the same old charm, the new season will have some new additions to its format. Termed a ‘super-twist’, this new addition to the game’s format is called ‘Dugnastra’ where a contestant’s winning amount can be doubled.
What is Dugnastra and how does it work?
This season, the makers have introduced a bonus question called the Super Sawaal. This question will appear after the contestant successfully crosses the first lap of the game (answers the fifth question}. Here the contestant will neither have any options nor will be allowed to use any lifelines. Without all this support, if they answer correctly, they can use the power called Dugnastra to multiply the winning amount of a particular question in the second lap of the game (between questions 6 to 10). If they succeed, the bonus amount won will be added to their winning amount at the end of their game.

Kaun Banega Crorepati has been a much loved show on Indian television, and Amitabh Bachchan being the face of it has only added to its allure. Now as the new season returns with its new twist, it certainly adds an extra layer for the audience and contestants to be on the edge of their seats.
KBC 16 will air on Sony TV every Monday-Friday at 9 pm. Before returning to this show, Amitabh Bachchan gave Bollywood its biggest blockbuster of 2024, Kalki 2898 AD.
