Days after finding herself embroiled in a controversy over promoting alternative therapy, actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu has opened up about her life over the past three years, particularly following her divorce from Naga Chaitanya and her myositis diagnosis. She also stated that she “went through fire” to reach where she is now.

Despite everything, Samantha emphasised that she wouldn’t change any of her experiences, as they have all shaped who she is today. “We all wish we could change certain things about our lives, and I sometimes wonder if I needed to have gone through the things I have. But looking back, I wouldn’t have it any other way,” she said during a conversation with Elle India.

“I was discussing this with my friend a while back, and I always thought I didn’t want the last three years to have happened, but now I feel that you have to deal with whatever life throws at you. And as long as you come out of it, you have won. I feel stronger and more rooted than ever. That’s because I went through fire to get here. Call it a spiritual awakening,” she said, adding, “In today’s world, you need spirituality more than ever because there’s so much pain and sickness. I believe that spirituality can be your best friend and an endless source of strength.”

Samantha, after a year-long hiatus owing to her myositis treatment, is now gearing up to go back to work and will start shooting in August. “I am excited to give it my all. I am also currently training for my new role; most projects I take up push me to learn a new skill, and I love that,” she said.

“I am proud of the women in the industry who are demanding their space, and I am glad to be a part of this change. We are now asking for better roles and full-fledged characters,” Samantha asserted.

A few days ago, a controversy had erupted over the actor’s support of alternative therapy. Samantha endorsed on her podcast, Take 20, nebulising hydrogen peroxide and distilled water as an alternative treatment for viral infections. Calling her “health and science illiterate,” hepatologist-medical influencer Cyriac Abby Philips, also known as The Liver Doc on social media, noted on X (formerly Twitter) that she could’ve been jailed for making such claims in a “rational and progressive society.” The actor responded to The Liver Doc’s tweet later and said that she landed on treatments that ‘worked wonderfully’ for her after lots of ‘trial and error’. Samantha, however, said that she will be ‘more careful’ about the medical advice that she shares henceforth.
