The trailer of the highly anticipated animated series Bujji and Bhairava, created by Nag Ashwin, was released on Thursday. Set in the same universe as Kalki 2898 AD, the series follows Bhairava, a lone bounty hunter navigating a dystopian world. With his AI companion, Bujji, Bhairava embarks on perilous missions, relying on Bujji’s advanced intelligence and support. This expansion of the Kalki 2898 AD franchise promises to captivate audiences with its intriguing storyline and rich, futuristic setting.

The trailer shows Bhairava trying to buy a futuristic bike for his bounty pursuits, but the dream remains far-fetched. He wants to hunt more bounty to get into what is called a ‘Complex’, which should be a stand-in for the top tier of society. However, one can see that he continues to fail to get his hands on the dream machine. Even when all is lost, his AI Companion, Bujji, stays with him. Towards the end of the trailer, Bujji comes to the rescue, and she is now part of a machine that is much better than what Bhairava had initially hoped for.

Now, with the new upgrade to his life, one has to wait for May 31 to see what Bhairava and Bujji accomplish together. Here’s the trailer:

Talking about Bujji and Bhairava, director Nag Ashwin said, “Bujji and Bhairava is a pure work of joy, just exploring the story of these two characters in Kalki that I enjoyed writing. It introduces audiences to the world and allows us to know more about these characters than the movie allows.”

Going by the promos, the plot of the animated series and film could be about an underdog Bhairava, a bounty hunter, who is also, like many such epic sagas, the chosen one, who is yet to be aware of his destiny and powers. Amitabh Bachchan plays the role of the immortal Hindu figure Ashwathama, son of Dhronacharya. Perhaps, he has an inkling about who Bhairava is. It will all be clear on June 27, when the film, also starring Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan and Disha Patani, will be released across the world.
