Netflix has released the trailer for the highly anticipated film The Family Affair, starring Joe King, Nicole Kidman, and Zac Efron. In the movie, Joe plays the role of Nicole’s daughter, whose life is turned upside down when she discovers that her narcissistic boss is dating her mother.

The trailer begins with a whirlwind romance between Nicole and Zac’s characters. Zac plays a self-absorbed, selfish actor, and Joe has been his assistant for two years. The overworked Joe is shocked to find out about her mother’s romantic involvement with Zac. As their romance progresses, Joe tries to break them up, warning her mother about Zac’s personality. However, her grandmother tries to convince her to let her mother follow her heart.

Directed by Richard LaGravenese, known for his expertise in blending romance and humour, the film also stars Kathy Bates and Liza Koshy. LaGravenese’s previous movies include The Last Five Years and P.S. I Love You. Efron and Kidman previously played lovers in 2012’s The Paperboy, directed by Lee Daniels.

Speaking about reuniting with Nicole Kidman, Zac Efon told People, “I was still a bit apprehensive, but reuniting with Nicole is always great. As talented as she is an actress, she is equally kind, caring, and wonderful to spend time with.” He also promised that their characters’ chemistry in the new film is “seamless, natural, and fun”.

The Family Affair will be released on Netflix on June 28.
