Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s 12th Fail was based on the life of Manoj Kumar Sharma and Shraddha Sharma and ever since the film has released, their story has reached all corners of India. In a recent interview, months after the release of the film, Manoj spoke about the impact of the film and shared how the experience of watching the film left his mother in tears.
In a chat with The Lallantop, when he was asked about his parents’ reaction to 12th Fail, Manoj said that during one of the screenings of the film, his mother was called on the stage by the director and she broke down. “My mother cried. Vidhu ji called her on the stage and then he asked my mother to say something. I feel those were some of the best moments of my life when my mother took his hand and kissed it. And she said this was great,” he recalled.
Manoj was also accompanied by Shraddha in the interview and she shared that Manoj breaks down in tears every time he sees the film. “Every time he sees the film, he cries. Both of us cry but he cries like a baby,” she said with a smile.

In the same conversation, Manoj and Shraddha also spoke about their love story. Manoj said that in an earlier interview, he had said that he was a “supporter of love marriages” and since then, he has gotten requests from many students who want to get married and need his support for the same. “All of them said, you are a supporter so now get us married,” he shared with a laugh.
12th Fail, directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, turned out to be one of the surprise hits of 2023. The film starred Vikrant Massey and Medha Shankr in lead roles.
