While online trolling is not a new phenomenon and almost all celebrities have fallen victim to it in recent years, legendary Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan’s son Babil Khan has decided not to let it slide. After being targeted for being “extra sweet” and “nice” to a woman at an event, Babil recently shared a strong post on social media, hitting out at trolls and asserting that he is anything but fake.

It all started when a video showing Babil Khan apologising to a woman for unintentionally coming between her and photographers went viral. After arriving to attend the event, Babil noticed photographers at their designated area and approached them as per the norm. However, he didn’t notice that a woman was standing in the background, at the picture booth, having her photos clicked. Upon realising that he was obstructing her view, Babil immediately moved to the side, while apologising to her multiple times for not noticing what was happening. “No, no ma’am, I am so sorry,” Babil could be heard saying multiple times in the video, though the woman tried to comfort him saying it was fine.

Soon after the video went viral, while a section of netizens praised him for his kind gesture, a large number gathered to claim that he was being too much and too nice.

Retaliating against all the trolls, Babil noted on social media, “All I did was introduce myself, ‘Hi, I’m Babil’ and the way you looked at me changed. I know that look, I know that you think that I’m fake, ‘he’s pretentious, tryna act humble when he’s sure that I know of his name’ or something else like, If I’m too sorry when I apologise.”

“I am not strategised, it’s just the way I’ve been raised, I am who I am and that’s just the way I behave. But I know that it’s strange to see something new when all of the clones look the same. But if I’m honest to you, the truth is that I’m just struggling adjusting to fame. I put in the work and I deal with the pain and I guess someday it’ll pay.”

“And i care about you, I care what you think, but I guess it’s time for a change. The same things that you loved me for, are now your weapons to hate. But I see you, the real ones, the day ones, the ones that never switched lanes. You’re family to me, I’ll be there for you, you’re the reason I stay in the game. This is our army. I love you,” he added.

Babil, who made his on-screen debut by playing a key role in director Anvita Dutt’s Qala, was last seen in the historical drama streaming miniseries The Railway Men. He is currently working on director Shoojit Sircar’s The Umesh Chronicles, starring alongside Amitabh Bachchan.
