The latest episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show emerged as the most entertaining segment yet of comedian Kapil Sharma’s newly launched sketch comedy series. The episode featured Diljit Dosanjh, Parineeti Chopra, and Imtiaz Ali promoting their latest flick, Amar Singh Chamkila. Recently, Kapil Sharma unveiled a behind-the-scenes video from the show and shed light on how he missed out on a chance to collaborate with AR Rahman for the film.

In the BTS clip, Kapil revealed he missed a call from AR Rahman, the composer of the film’s music, as he was overseas. Recounting the incident, Kapil shared, “I met Rahman sir one day and he said, ‘I called you for Chamkila.’ I think he wanted me to sing a song or something. I thought he was just sweet talking with me.”

Imtiaz intervened and admitted that Rahman had told him about Kapil’s singing skills. Kapil continued, “He said this to me in a serious manner. I said, ‘Sir we were overseas and which is why we couldn’t speak to each other.'” Lamenting about missing the opportunity to work with AR Rahman, Kapil humoursly said, “I felt really bad, I cried the whole night. It was unfortunate.” Imtiaz went on to say, “But Rahman sir said that if Diljit couldn’t do this film, we had only one more choice which was you.”

In addition to his stellar comedy career, Kapil Sharma has also showcased his acting prowess in films like Zwigato and the recent Crew. He is renowned for his melodious voice and has even released a music video titled “Alone” with Guru Randhawa.

Regarding Amar Singh Chamkila, the film delves into the life of the legendary Punjabi singer of the same name, who was tragically assassinated at the age of 27. The movie premiered on Netflix on April 12 to widespread acclaim and positive reviews.
