Premalatha Vijayakanth, the current leader of Desiya Murpoku Dravida Kazhagam, has revealed that Vijay’s upcoming film The Greatest of All Time might feature an AI-generated version of Captain Vijayakanth as the film’s director has approached the family to seek their permission. Premalatha said that Venkat Prabhu has spoken to Shanmuga Pandian, Vijayakanth’s son, several times for his permission to use a computer-generated version of the deceased leader in the upcoming film. She said that even Vijay has expressed interest in meeting her for the same.
Speaking to Galatta, Premalatha said, “Venkat Prabhu visited our house 4 to 5 times and discussed the matter with Shanmugapandian. He had requested to meet me, and when I was in Chennai for the election campaign, I met him. He asked my permission to bring back Captain in the film GOAT using artificial intelligence. Vijay had also asked to meet me in person.”
Premalatha said that she “will have a positive response” to the request as she is aware of Vijay’s history with Captain Vijayakanth. “I have to think what Captain would have done. He is very close to Vijay and his father SA Chandrasekhar Sir. We all know Vijay was launched with Sendhoorapandian and Captain acted in it for him. I was there when he gave the call sheet to the film. He did 17 films with SA Chandrasekhar sir. So, he would not be able to say no to Vijay or SA Chandrasekhar. I have told them the same. Once the election is over, let Vijay meet me and I will have a positive response,” she said.
“I told Venkat Prabhu the same thing. I knew him for a very long time as Captain was close with Ilaiyaraaja and the whole family. So, I will have good news after the election,” she added.
Vijay-starrer The Greatest of All Time, a sci-fi film, starring Meenakshi Chaudhry, Prashanth, Prabhudeva, Ajmal, Mohan, Laila, Sneha, and many others, is scheduled to release on September 5.
