Actor Akshay Kumar seemed to address the reactions that his viral ‘interview’ of PM Narendra Modi generated ahead of the 2019 General Elections. In the interview, the actor had famously asked the PM if he likes mangoes. He made a cheeky reference about this while promoting his upcoming film Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. In an interview with Ranveer Allahbadia, the host wrapped up their interaction by saying that he would love to interview Akshay again, this time with a plate of mangoes before them — a reference to a question that he had posed to the PM during their interview.

Akshay said, “Aam khayega tu, guthliyan khaata hai (You want to eat mangoes, do you)?” The host replied, “You like mangoes?” Akshay said, “Who doesn’t? Humare desh ka aam bahut badhiya hota hai bete. Alphonso aam kisko ache nahi lagte (Our country has the best mangoes. Who doesn’t like Alphonso mangoes)?” Sitting next to him, his Bade Miyan Chote Miyan co-star Tiger Shroff didn’t waste any time in saying, “I love mangoes.” And then, with a cheeky glint in his eye, Akshay told the host, “Mazaak toh nahi uda raha tu aam ka (You aren’t making fun of mangoes, are you)? Mazaak mat udaiyo, kahin band naa ho jaaye podcast (Don’t make fun of mangoes, or who knows, your show might be over).”

In the same interview, Akshay also spoke about his strangest fan encounter, which left him with a bleeding hand. In an interview, Akshay said that he was interacting with several fans at an event, when he discovered that one of them had slashed his hand with a blade. In addition to his prolific film work, Akshay is known to perform at live shows and events, which puts him in close quarters with his admirers. The actor also revealed that he regularly visits his old school and the house he grew up in, in order to stay connected to his roots. He said that he wants to buy the apartment he lived in before becoming a star.

Akshay has often addressed the mango question in the past. “I wanted to know the human side of him, I felt like asking him. I wanted to know why he wears a watch upside-down. I wanted to ask him how much money he has in the bank. I’m not going to ask him about policies,” Akshay told India Today about interviewing the PM. In the interview, Akshay had asked the PM about his love for mangoes, and the PM had said said, “I love mangoes. Gujarat has a tradition of Aamras as well. While growing up, we did not have the luxury to buy mangoes. But I loved plucking mangoes directly from the tree. It used to be the best. Now, I need to control myself and think twice about how much I should eat.”
