A hit pair onscreen after Geetha Govindam and Dear Comrade, Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna have made enough news about their real-life relationship. While the two have maintained that they are friends, their Instagram accounts say otherwise. Many of their colleagues have hinted about their relationship as well.
As Rashmika appeared on Neha Dhupia’s podcast, she was invariably asked about her rumoured boyfriend Vijay Deverakonda. As Neha asked her to reveal the best and worst thing about Vijay Deverakonda, she answered, “The best thing would be both come from a middle-class family. So, the thinking and perspectives are alike, which makes things easy. The worst thing about him is he is just too serious all the time. He is always like work, work, work… he is just like a rocket.”
During a questionnaire session in the show, Rashmika was asked to assign an alternative career for her co-stars. When asked who would be perfect for a call center job, Rashmika after a bit of hesitation revealed that Vijay would be apt as he is always on the phone. She also suggested his name for the job of a therapist as he is good with valuable career advice.
She was asked to pick a star for the job of a stripper. “I do have someone in mind, but I can’t reveal,” she said and refused to answer. As a penalty, Rashmika was asked to reveal her secret nickname for Vijay and the actress said, “I call him Viju.”
Rashmika is currently the only actress who has a significant fan following and body of work in all three big film industries of India. Starting her career with Kirik Party in Kannada, she has now earned the title ‘National Crush’ by acting in some of the top projects in all three big film industries–Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil. Her big-ticket film Animal, starring Ranbir Kapoor, ended up raking in about Rs 900 crore. On the other hand, her Telugu project Pushpa: The Rise put Tollywood on the global map. In Tamil, she acted with the current leading star of the industry, Vijay, in the film Varisu. At a recent talk show No Filter With Neha, the actress spoke about all her co-stars.
It is no secret that Rashmika is an ardent fan of the senior actor. In many interviews, the actress has claimed she has been Vijay’s fan since school days and it was surreal to be part of his project. The film was released for Pongal 2023 and ended up becoming a box office success. Though Rashmika didn’t have a meaty role to play in the project, her dance numbers with Vijay became a rage among the fans. Even the actress admitted during a media event of Animal that she did the film only for Vijay.
She said, “I like him a lot, I only did Varisu to share the screen with him. I know that my role didn’t have much importance in the film except for two songs. But, I wanted to prove my presence with those songs only. Even during shoots, I used to joke with Vijay sir that I don’t have much to do in the film except the songs.”
