Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Aadujeevitham (The Goat Life) is running successfully in theatres. The actor recently opened up about how the film’s director Blessy has the virtue of “limitless patience”.

Prithviraj turned director with Mohanlal’s hit Malayalam movie Lucifer in 2019. When asked how working with Blessy influenced him as a filmmaker, the actor told indianexpress.com, “He (Blessy) is a bit like Anjali Menon because they both have this wonderful virtue of limitless patience.”

Prithviraj then went on to share an anecdote from the sets of Aadujeevitham, which is based on the life of an Indian migrant worker Najeeb Muhammed who goes to Saudi Arabia to earn money to send back home, but, in turn, finds himself living a slave-like existence herding goats in the middle of the desert.

The actor said, “I had said this story at a press meet in Kerala. There is a shot in the trailer of my reflection in the eye of the camel. So what happened was there is a scene where I bid farewell to all the animals in the masara (a farm where sheep, goats and camels are raised). I tell all the camels that I am leaving and I won’t come back. I do this as I am feeding the camels. By some accident the main camel that was in the shot suddenly stopped eating and looked at me. So Blessy said, ‘Wow, we should get an opposite counter angle of that, for the camel to do that.’”

Prithviraj revealed that the filmmaker wanted the shot and they shot every day, for about six to seven days, until Blessy got the particular shot right.

“I mean the camel won’t do that again! So, I am like, ‘Hello, you can’t instruct a camel to act!’ But Blessy just wouldn’t give up. He wanted that shot and I remember it took us like six to seven days to get it. Every day when it is that time and the sun in that particular angle, we would stop doing whatever we were doing and set up the camera for this shot and try, try, try. We wouldn’t get it. We would pack up, and do the same thing the next day. Eventually, we got that shot! That virtue of limitless patience is just a wonderful asset to have as a filmmaker,” revealed Prithviraj.
