Vijay Deverakonda was already a star in Telugu cinema before he signed the big-budget pan-India film Liger with producer Karan Johar. However, the film’s massive failure was a strong blow to the actor’s career. In a recent media interaction, Vijay spoke about what changed after the film’s critical and commercial failure.

The Telugu actor, who will next be seen in the film Family Star, said that while his attitude towards work remains the same after Liger’s release, there is one particular habit that he decided to change.

According to India Today, Vijay said at a press conference, “There is no change in my attitude. I have remained the same before and after the release. The only difference is that I decided not to talk about the results of my films (before release) for the next three movies or so. That’s the punishment I gave myself.”

Before Liger’s release, Vijay had made a statement saying that he would start counting box office numbers only after the film crosses Rs 200 crore. However, the film barely managed to collect Rs 48.58 cr in India and and ended its global run with around Rs 60 crore.

However, the actor feels positive about his character in Family Star. During an interview with Galatta Plus, Vijay called the role a ‘blessing’. He said, “I have been blessed with characters early on in my career, that have been remembered far beyond their time. Arjun Reddy with Sandeep being one. I believe the character I play in Family Star is another blessing.” Family Star is set to release on April 5.
