Navya Naveli Nanda, the granddaughter of Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan, said that the unfiltered and open conversations on her podcast, What The Hell Navya, resonate with the audience as they love the real-life experiences that her nani, Jaya, and mother, Shweta Bachchan Nanda share on the show. Navya said listeners love Jaya’s unapologetic remarks and stories, which make her a fan favourite. “Nani is the real star of the podcast. She is filter-free and raw in her opinions and people love that,” said Navya, during a conversation with NDTV.

The Gen Z entrepreneur added that despite Jaya’s honest remarks, she never censors them during the edit. “She never asks me to edit out or censor anything. It is cute that she has become everyone’s ‘nani’ because people in the commentS section are calling her ‘nani’,” revealed Navya.

Recently, Navya’s brother and The Archies’ actor Agastya Nanda, made an appearance on the podcast, where he candidly opened up about his thoughts on masculinity and mental health. According to Navya, the episode featuring her brother is her favourite. “Having Agastya was a lot of fun. It was one of the most loved episodes of this season. He added another layer of fun to the entire conversation while keeping it real. Just like in real life, he ensured he highlighted how nani, Mom and I are similar to each other,” said Navya.

Navya said the three aren’t trying to be “politically correct” on the show, even though they’re discussing each other’s lives and various socio-political issues. “We don’t sanitise anything. We are talking about ourselves and are being vulnerable while speaking about our own experiences and journeys. Be it nani speaking about her life, mom sharing her own experiences or me talking about my work, what we share is real and raw. Besides that, we also talk about a lot of other things that are happening in our world. We don’t want to make it only about ourselves,” said Navya, adding, “Whatever we do it is the public eye anyway so there is no need for us to sanitise the content.”

Answering a series of fun rapid-fire questions, Navya added, “Both my mom and nani’s love language is feeding people. Nani makes amazing Bengali food.” She also shared that her nana, Amitabh, encourages her to “follow her heart.” “He asks me to follow what I believe and use my voice,” she concluded.
