Telugu star Vijay Deverakonda opened up on his remuneration, confessing that his market price went up only recently and he was paid ‘peanuts’ until his film with Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Kushi. The Telugu star got candid about his salary issues at the promo event for his upcoming film The Family Star.

“I am a star, but I started to see little money only recently, around Kushi. As an outsider, one shouldn’t think about money at first. One should worry about cementing his style, and performances; my work in the films should speak first. Outside, a lot is said about how much I am earning and all that. I earned peanuts till Kushi. Only after that film, I started taking my market price,” he said.

‘I used to take peanuts until #Kushi. Genuinely, I started seeing some real money from then. Now I’m taking comfortable market price.’

When asked what is his market price, Vijay Deverakonda said, “It is a comfortable market price.” Before he could finish his answer, producer Dil Raju interrupted and said, “He discussed with the producer and said whatever will make all of us profitable will be the market price. As he had discussed all this with us, we are collaborating on two more projects.”

Vijay Deverakonda’s Liger, which released last year, turned out to be a box office humiliation. Despite a massive promotional campaign, the film failed to make an impact. The actor was asked if it had any effect on his attitude, and the actor said, “I am the same person before and now. Nothing has changed.”

Directed by Parasuram, The Family Star is a story about a working-class hero and his struggles to protect his family. Co-starring Mrunal Thakur, the film will release on April 5. The details of the same are yet to be unveiled.
