In a recent episode of Shark Tank India 3, a rather quirky pitch left the ‘sharks’ laughing out loud. Dalip Kumar from Punjab brought to the tank his adult and meditation furniture business called Luvottica asking for an investment of Rs 2 crore for 10 per cent equity. While the pitch left some ‘sharks’ feeling awkward, a few others seized the opportunity to ask some fun and quirky questions to the pitcher. While Anupam Mittal took a demo of the meditation chair, Namita Thapar and Vineeta Singh asked him to even test a couch made for lovemaking.

During the pitch, Namita also asked a quirky question to the pitcher. She asked Dalip, ‘If an aged relative comes home and asks what is that couch, what should one say?’ Based on the entrepreneur’s answer, Anupam made a point saying that while one might spice up their sex life through the couch if another aged relative sleeps on it, it might give a wrong message. The CEO of Shaadi.com said, “Aapki nani ya chachi agar uss couch par let gayi, toh aap kya sochoge? Kamaal ki baat karte ho aap. Sabki neeyat kharab karoge aap, parivaar todoge aap. (Imagine if your aunt or grandmother lies down on the same couch, what will you think? You don’t make sense, you will break families.)

While Vineeta Singh and Namita Thapar were having fun at this conversation on Shark Tank India, Ritesh Agarwal too was having a hearty laugh. And when the pitcher said that this product would be very useful specifically to Ritesh, everybody burst out laughing. Later, Namita and Ritesh backed out of the deal. Throughout, Aman Gupta didn’t interact much with the pitcher, but he too enjoyed everything that unfolded during the pitch and later backed out. At last, Vineeta and Anupam gave their views on the business.

While Vineeta backed out calling the Luvottica business “irrelevant”, Anupam said that the sexual wellness market is a niche one and sexual furniture is all the more niche. With this Dalip Kumar returned home empty-handed from Shark Tank India.
