Music composer Devi Sri Prasad’s love for Tamil music icon Ilaiyaraaja is well known, and he is currently on cloud nine after his idol paid a visit to his studio. DSP took to social media to share pictures with Ilaiyaraaja.

Devi Sri Prasad has a life-size monochrome picture of Ilaiyaraaja at his office, and the mastero was seen standing beside it in one of the photos that they took during their meeting. Along with the pictures, DSP wrote an emotional note describing his feelings after this special visit. He wrote, “As a little kid, even before I knew what MUSIC was all about, MAESTRO ISAIGNANI ILAYARAJA SIR’s MUSIC cast a MAGICAL SPELL on me (sic).”

The Manmadhan Ambu composer revealed that he became a musician because of Ilaiyaraaja and his music. So, when he finally achieved his dream, he installed a huge picture of Ilaiyaraaja in his studio. “My biggest and lifetime dream was that Ilaiyaraaja Sir should visit my studio one day, and I should take a photo with him standing next to the picture of his.”

He added, “And as the universe always conspires to make our most genuine desires and love come true. Finally, this dream of mine came true. It was one of the most emotional moments of my life. Thank You my dearest god of music Isaignani Ilaiyaraaja Sir. For bringing your divine presence to my studio and blessing me and my team.”

In 2015, Kamal Haasan spoke about the life-size image of Ilaiyaraaja at DSP’s studio after the two collaborated on Manmadhan Ambu. During the audio launch of the event, Kamal Haasan claimed no other music composer impressed him as Ilaiyaraaja had, but DSP comes close. He claimed DSP could become the next Ialaiyaraaja. His statement was criticised as people felt it was unfair to compare the veteran Ilaiyaraaja to the relatively young DSP. Kamal later claimed that it was the highest praise that DSP could have received, as he knew that he was an ardent fan of Ilaiyaraaja.
