Telugu actor Varun Tej Konidela, who is currently promoting his upcoming film Operation Valentine, has opened up about his love story with his wife, actor Lavanya Tripathi. He revealed that the two of them had initially decided to keep their relationship under wraps as they were still discovering each other and figuring out their place in the industry. Varun and Lavanya met in 2016 on the sets of Mister (2017) and fell in love. They tied the knot last year.
In an interview with indianexpress.com, Varun said, “Initially when I wanted to keep it under the wraps, it was difficult to balance.” When asked if it is even possible for two celebrities to hide their relationship, he said, “It did work! I am a sitting example. It did work but it has its difficulties. Sometimes you just want to break this pressure off, go out and chill.”

Varun Tej then shared that they did not want their relationship to be discussed in the public domain because they wanted to prioritize their work. “When we met, we were still discovering and trying to figure out our place in the industry. So we figured that was more important to us at the time rather than falling in love and roaming around the city. So we kind of gave our work the priority in the beginning. Later we understood that it was the right approach for us as we grew as people together.”
Varun and Lavanya were in a relationship for five years before making it official in June 2023, when they got engaged. The couple tied the knot in November last year in Tuscany, Italy.
