Bollywood actor Arshad Warsi and his wife Maria Goretti’s Valentine’s Day this year will be extra special. The couple, who tied the knot on February 14, 1999, never legally registered their marriage. Following nearly 25 years of marriage, the couple registered their marriage on January 23, 2024.
In an interview with TOI, Arshad said that registering their marriage never crossed their minds and they did not think of it as “really important”. The actor said that they later understood the importance of it, especially when it comes to handling property affairs and even after one’s demise. He said that they did it for legal reasons.
Maria Goretti said that they had a court marriage because it was something they had wanted to do for a while. They got married under the Special Marriage Act. Their kids couldn’t attend because they couldn’t bring them to court. She said, “We sat in those big chairs and laughed a lot. Yes, I married the same man for the third time! Who does that?”

Arshad Warsi admitted feeling awkward about sharing his wedding date, finding it a cliché. Both he and Maria Goretti were a bit embarrassed about it. Arshad’s work schedule complicated things. With no other suitable date, they opted for February 14. Now, whenever Valentine’s Day rolls around, Arshad vividly remembers that he got married on that day. He said, “Now I have the scariest memory of Valentine’s Day — that I got married.”
Maria and Arshad have two children, son Zeke and daughter Zene. On the work front, Arshad was recently seen on the show Asur 2. He will next be seen in multi-starrer Welcome To The Jungle.
