Namashi Chakraborty, the son of actor Mithun Chakraborty, rued the fame that people like Orry have earned for themselves, while he struggles to make his mark in the film industry. In an interview, the one-film-old Namashi spoke about his privileges, as he expressed his disinterest in the nepotism debate. He said that he struggled for years trying to crack auditions in Mumbai, but his first film, Bad Boy, was presented to him fully formed.

Asked why he doesn’t get photographed by the paparazzi like other star kids, Namashi told Bollywood Thikana in an interview, “I tried doing that for a month. I used to rent out clothes and pose, but that didn’t get me any work, so I decided to stop doing it. Let me tell you a story from just last week. I was sitting in Soho House, and my friend asked me what I do for a living. I told him I’m an actor, and I’m Mithun’s son. He was very impressed. He saw my social media, and asked, ‘Bro are you friends with Orry?'”

Namashi was taken aback by this question. He continued, “I thought about all the hard work I’ve done to become a hero, the struggles I’ve had for three years in Aaram Nagar, I’m the son of such a big star, but here’s this guy who pouts and takes selfies and more people know him. I’m stressed, maybe I need to get spotted more. I want to be as famous as Orry. But in all seriousness, that’s not the kind of fame I want.”

Namashi made his acting debut with Rajkumar Santoshi’s little-seen film Bad Boy. In the same interview, he complained about the lack of exhibition the film received, and said that the music should’ve been promoted more. But he admitted that pandemic-induced delays might have made the film ‘outdated’, and said that he took some of the negative reviews to heart.
