Actor Teja Sajja is riding high on the success of his recent film HanuMan. The film, which is a blend of fantasy and mythology, has been received well all over the country. But, in a recent conversation, Teja said that he was scared of dying while shooting for the film.

In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Teja shared that since the production had constraints, they couldn’t get a stunt double and he had to do everything himself. When asked what was he deeply worried about while shooting for the film, the actor said, “Deep down? That I might die someday while doing the action sequences.”

Teja further explained, “We were doing very risky stunts. Because of the resources that we had, and the constraints that we had, we didn’t have any body double or head replacement shots. All the stunts that you see in the film are done by me. So there were many such occasions where I pushed myself to the edge but as I said, it’s all worth it.”

Directed by Prasanth Varma, HanuMan was released on the Makar Sankranti weekend. Despite clashing with Mahesh Babu’s Guntur Kaaram, the film did exceedingly well in Telugu states and picked up pace across India after the first weekend.

In an earlier chat with Siddharth Kannan, the director shared that even he was scared for the life of his actors while shooting the film. “There were many accidents that we missed… many accidents. Teja would have died. The heroine would have died. There was a snake… if you remember the film, there was a sequence where Teja jumped away from a tiger and hid behind a rock. If it had bitten him, he would have died. But nothing of that sort happened. We were shooting there for 10 to 15 minutes, and nobody realised it was there. It was black. We call it ‘nallatraju’ (cobra) in Telugu. It was very poisonous. We all realised it was there. We froze and Teja didn’t move. It slowly went away. We continued shooting,” he said.

Prasanth has also announced a sequel to HanuMan, which is titled Jai Hanuman. During an interview with indianexpress.com, Teja revealed the plot of the sequel and his involement in it. He said, “The film (HanuMan) ends on a note that says what Lord HanuMan has promised Shree Ram. So the film (Jai Hanuman) will feature Lord Hanuman’s character as the main, primary character. I am not Hanuman, I am Hanu-Man. So it will predominantly be Lord Hanuman’s film but HanuMan might also be part of it.”
