Actor Abhishek Kumar made headlines throughout his journey on Bigg Boss 17. Even after becoming the runner-up of the show, Abhishek has left everyone talking about his journey. Recently, he exclusively spoke to Indianexpress.com about his Bigg Boss 17 journey, his friendship with winner Munawar Faruqui, and his cold war with Ankita Lokhande.

While Abhishek said that his ex-girlfriend Isha Malviya’s allegations about him slapping her on one New Year’s night were false, he confirmed that Isha’s mom had issues with their relationship.

Talking about the same, Abhishek Kumar said, “It gets very difficult when your reputation gets tainted. To err is human, but only a good person will never repeat those mistakes. I have made mistakes, but the accusations about me slapping her on New Year are false. I did have an aggressive nature, but I think I have repented for it. Six months when I was bedridden, and 3 months on Bigg Boss, I have repented for it. Now I am out of this zone, I also have the right to be happy. I don’t want to get depressed talking about it.”

He added, “Isha’s mom was against our relationship because she wanted Isha to focus more on her career than me. When you are in a relationship, you do get distracted, so she was right in her place. She wanted Isha to prioritize her career, hence she was against the relationship.”

Sharing how his journey on Bigg Boss 17 was challenging on the emotional and mental front, Abhishek Kumar said, “It was quite an emotionally and mentally exhausting journey. I broke every day and bounced back every day. I had no idea I was strong emotionally and mentally. Usually, it would take me some time to bounce back, but the Bigg Boss house was more important to me. I didn’t want to lack even one per cent.”

Abhishek also addressed his cold war with Ankita Lokhande on the show and explained, “Ankita and I have a very similar nature. She was equally possessive as I am, so I could not see a bond getting formed with her. Better than fighting, we chose to ignore each other. But we became cordial towards the end.”

Not many might know, but after winning Bigg Boss 17, Abhishek’s bestie Munawar Faruqui made rounds of Dongri where he made his fans do Abhishek’s signature step and chant his name. Reacting to this, Abhishek said, “It was a very sweet gesture from Munawar. That left me in tears. It melted my heart.”

Talking about the friendship, Abhishek shared, “It is very difficult to trust anyone in that house. You have to show one-sided trust. Munnawar and I are good friends, but initially, he never took a stand for me, and I felt bad about it. I used to take a stand, so people would point this out. But for me, that friendship was that someday he would realize and might reciprocate. He did realize it eventually and stood by me during the Isha-Samarth incident.”

Lastly, Abhishek Kumar also addressed claims made by ex-contestant Navid Sole about him. When Navid got evicted, he mentioned in several interviews that Abhishek went on one knee and proposed to him and that he would start things off once Abhishek was out.

These claims led to some speculations about Abhishek’s sexual preference. Reacting to these claims, he said, “I don’t know why Navid made that statement. I felt bad that he said so. Navid likes boys, and I have no issues with it, but I am straight.”

On the work front, when we asked Abhishek if he would take up Khatron Ke Khiladi 14, he said with a smile that he could not talk about it now.
