Veteran actor Raj Babbar is proud of his journey in films and politics and says he carved his own path which gave him a lot of respect even if not necessarily a lot of money. Babbar is popular for featuring in films like Zeenat Aman starrer Insaf Ka Tarazu, Nikaah and Aaj Ki Aawaz  among others. In the late 80s, the actor entered politics. In an interview with Rajshri Unplugged, the actor opened up about his life.

“I was interested in social service, so I thought the best thing would be to become a politician because the platform of politics is huge and I thought I would be able to voice my thoughts on reel as well as real life. I have no regrets. Sure, maybe I could have earned a lot more money which I didn’t. But this is God’s blessing.

“My grandfather and father, both in railways, would live in quarters. I spent my life in rented houses, but the first house that I bought was here in Mumbai. It was registered in my name, the first house which was owned in two and a half generation of the family! It felt good. Mujhe kabhi kuch kami nazar nahi aayi. I chose my own path,” he said.
