Bigg Boss 17 finalist Munawar Faruqui has been one of the most talked about contestants this season. The stand-up comedian’s personal life has always been a subject of discussion on the show. He was accused of cheating on his ex-girlfriend Nazila, and later, the wild card contestant Ayesha Khan claimed that Munawar made false promises to her.

Last night, director Rohit Shetty appeared on the show and posed some serious contestants to the remaining contestants. He even schooled Munawar for teaming up with Ayesha and dragging Nazila’s name on the show. Rohit said, “Jo bhi tha aap dono ke beech, Ayesha Khan aur aapke beech. Jo dusra naam hai wo main nahi isiliye lena chahunga kyunki mujhe aisa lagta hai ki uss naam ko aapne aur Ayesha ne apne convenience ke hisaab se iss show mein zabardasti ghaseeta hai. Ek point ke baad mein aisa lagne laga ki uss bechari ka naam lekar aap apne content bana rahe ho (Whatever was there between you and Ayesha, you purposely dragged the other girl’s name for convenience. I would not like to take her name, but there was a point where it looked like you both used the poor girl’s name for content).”

Replying to this, Munawar shared that he was very scared and embarrassed, “I used her name, it was not for personal reasons though.” Rohit advised Munawar, “When you go outside, you will have to answer a lot of questions. You must be concerned about your image, but promise me when you go outside, jo rishte todna hai tod dena, jo rishte jodna hai jod dena lekin mardon ki tarah sach bolna (When you go outside, you will have to answer a lot of questions. You must be concerned about your image but promise me when you go outside, break the relationships you have to, and keep the ones you want, but be man enough to speak the truth).”

The decision to bring Ayesha on the show was criticised by many celebrities who came in support of Munawar. The finalist also addressed this issue during the Bigg Boss press conference, where he said, “I feel very embarrassed with all this. It is something I am not proud of. I never made my break-up with Nazila public. My love life has nothing to do with the game. Nobody who comes here is a saint, we are celebrities. Things from our personal life are the crux of the show, no one here has led a whitewashed life. The mistakes I have made, I feel genuinely sorry, I even compromised on my game because I had that regret when Ayesha came in. I will handle things once I go out.”

Here are the contestants who gave their opinions on Munawar’s personal life being made into a public circus…

Ayesha Khan

In her eviction interview, Ayesha told Indianexpress.com, “My intention was not to come on the show through this. I confronted him on the show. He sent a proposal for another girl also and said it was her and me that he was considering for marriage. But he never directly promised marriage to me in any communication. Munawar spoke about his personal life on Lock Upp too. This time also he was the one talking about his personal life. He wasn’t showing the mistakes he made, but I came in speaking the truth. I chose to speak about his wrongdoings. If not for Bigg Boss, I would have spoken about it on social media.”

Anurag Dobhal

In a conversation with Indianexpress.com, Anurag had spoken about how Munawar used his relationships for the game. He said, “Munawar was my enemy from day one, I did not like his ideologies or what he had done before coming on the show. I know what kind of a man Munawar is. He is a ‘darinda’ who plays with emotions. First, he used Nazila, and then, when Ayesha came, he forgot about Nazila. After Salman sir’s feedback, his statement changed again.”

Keeping her point of view on Munawar’s relationships being publicised on a platform like Bigg Boss, Rinku had said, “Nobody deserves such kind of a public trial, whether it is Munawar or anybody. We need to be sensitive. Calling out people publicly, and making trash comments is just not right. Munawar’s issue went overboard and was not required. Ayesha has her own story, and Munawar is not denying it, so I cannot say if she has maligned him. But yes, she chose the wrong time and platform to get an apology. She could have waited, since both agreed that they were in no commitment. Munawar would have returned and dealt with it even then.”
