Arun Govil, who is known for playing Lord Ram in Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan, attended the Pran Pratishtha ceremony at Ram Mandir in Ayodhya on Monday. The actor reached the city a few days before the ceremony and was present on Monday as well when many film and television celebrities marked their presence at the ceremony. However, Arun was disappointed when he did not get a chance to perform ‘darshan’ at the temple.

As reported by Bharat 24, Arun was asked about his reaction to the Ram Mandir and the actor said that this was like a dream coming true, but he did not get to do ‘darshan’. “Sapna toh bhaiya poora ho gaya par mujhe darshan nahi hue. Main kuch nahi keh sakta iss samay (The dream has been fulfilled but I did not get to do ‘darshan’. I can’t say anything at the moment),” he said.

In another chat with NDTV, Arun shared that this was a divine moment that had to be experienced to be felt but when asked about the ‘darshan’, the actor said that he could not have ‘darshan’ properly as the temple was very crowded. He added that he would like to come again to have ‘darshan’ in peace.

In an earlier chat with News 18, Arun said that he was discouraged from taking up the role of Lord Ram. “Being an actor, if you are not doing commercial cinema than you are nothing. Also, at that time starring a mythological show wasn’t considered something great. My friends and family members told me, ‘Why are you doing Ramayan? This isn’t graded work, you will get caught in this type of work.’ But I was like, ‘I don’t know. But since I have thought about it, let me to do it.’ I faced a lot of difficulty after that as an actor but I understood it later when I got a lot of love from the audience. I wouldn’t get so much love if I was a commercial actor. Now, I think if I wouldn’t have done this role, I wouldn’t have lived my life,” he said.
