Jr NTR and Janhvi Kapoor’s epic Telugu film, Devara: Part 1, witnessed a significant decline in its box office collections on day 7, sparking concerns about its overall performance. Released on September 27, Devara opened to impressive numbers, with fans praising Jr NTR and Janhvi Kapoor’s on-screen chemistry and captivating dance moves.

The film’s box office journey began promisingly, with a massive nett collection of Rs 82.5 crore on its opening day. However, the subsequent days saw a gradual decline in revenue. Despite a surprising 40% jump in collections on Tuesday (Gandhi Jayanti holiday), with earnings of Rs 21 crore, Devara’s collections plummeted on Thursday, dropping by over 65% to Rs 7.25 crore nett in the domestic market.

Devara’s one-week nett total now stands at Rs 215.6 crore, while its worldwide gross is estimated to be over Rs 370 crore. Directed by Koratala Siva and produced by NTR Arts and Yuvasudha Arts, Devara boasts an impressive cast and crew, including Janhvi Kapoor’s and Saif Ali Khan’s Telugu debut. Saif plays the lead antagonist, Bhaira, in the film.

Devara marks Jr NTR’s first project after the global success of RRR, directed by SS Rajamouli. The coming days will determine Devara’s overall box office fate. Trade experts predict a better performance over the weekend, given the absence of new releases in key markets — Hindi and Telugu which would prove to be direct competition to Devara.

Devara’s initial success can be attributed to Jr NTR’s massive fan following and Janhvi Kapoor’s charm. The film’s captivating dance moves and Jr NTR’s energetic performance were particularly praised. However, the decline in collections raises questions about the film’s sustainability.

The Telugu film industry has witnessed significant growth in recent years, with films like RRR and Pushpa achieving unprecedented success. Devara’s performance will be closely watched, as it may impact Jr NTR’s future projects and the industry’s overall trajectory. As Devara navigates its second week, fans and trade analysts alike will be watching closely to see if the film can regain momentum and bounce back.
