Ex-Representative Liz Cheney of the Republican Party, who has been a longtime critic of former President Donald Trump, sent shockwaves through her party as she endorsed Democratic candidate Kamala Harris and shared the stage with her in a campaign rally in Wisconsin.
Cheney, who spoke at an event in Wisconsin which was flanked by banners of “Country over Party”, said “Above all else, I know that the most conservative of conservative values is fidelity to our Constitution.”
Revealing her choices, Cheney said “I have never voted for a Democrat, but this year I am proudly casting my vote for Vice President Kamala Harris.”
The US election is now just a month away and as per latest polls, Vice President Kamala Harris is maintaining a lead over Republican candidate Trump and is seen as a frontrunner to succeed President Joe Biden in January.

Harris has been seeking to appeal to the Republican leaders who have been uncomfortable since Trump’s entry into the party’s political realm. Cheney detailed her choice of voting this time for Kamala Harris, as she claimed that Donald Trump poses a threat to democracy at large.
“In this election, putting patriotism ahead of partisanship is not an aspiration. It is our duty. Violence does not and must never determine who rules us. Voters do,” Cheney said at the event.
Cheney, in an attempt to persuade swing voters, invoked the January 6 US Capitol riots, when a mob breached upon the US Capitol in 2021 after Trump lost the presidential election but wasn’t ready to accept the result.
“Donald Trump was willing to sacrifice our Capitol, to allow law enforcement officers to be beaten and brutalized in his name, and to violate the law and the Constitution in order to seize power for himself,” Cheney said as the crow cheered.
