Fans might recall Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan dancing together at Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s recent wedding, but there was a time when these two superstars didn’t see eye to eye. Recently, an old clip of the actors resurfaced on social media, showing them taking jabs at each other.

The clip dates back to when Shah Rukh was promoting his film My Name Is Khan, while Aamir was busy promoting 3 Idiots. Both movies were released just two months apart. At the time, Aamir adopted a unique strategy to promote 3 Idiots, traveling across the country in various disguises to interact with people. Many praised this marketing tactic as innovative, but Shah Rukh had a different take, calling it “chhichhorapan (immaturity)”.

During a press conference for My Name Is Khan, when asked about Aamir Khan’s promotional approach, Shah Rukh Khan remarked, “Sorry to use this word, but ye ek kisam ka chhichhorapan lagta hai (This seems like childishness). I don’t think we would go to that level to promote our film. Every film has its own way of being marketed, and this film will have its own unique strategy.”

In response, during an interview with ABP, Aamir didn’t hold back when asked about Shah Rukh’s comment. He expressed his displeasure, saying, “Jaha tak baat hai chhichhorapan ki, toh woh (Shah Rukh Khan) jyada jaante honge iss cheez ke baare mein kyuki woh khud kaafi chhichhorapan karte hai apni zindagi mein. Woh expert hai inn sab mein (As far as childishness is concerned, he (Shah Rukh Khan) would know more about it because he does a lot of childish things in his life. He is an expert in all these matters).”

Despite their differences at the time, both My Name Is Khan and 3 Idiots were massive blockbusters. However, 3 Idiots outperformed Shah Rukh Khan’s film and became one of the most celebrated movies in Hindi cinema. It was also a significant success overseas, especially in countries like China and Japan. 3 Idiots held the record as the highest-grossing Indian film of all time, until 2013.
