Greatest Of All Time OTT Release: GOAT, Vijay’s penultimate film before he hangs up his acting boots to concentrate on his political career, made all the right noises in the lead up to its release on September 5. The film managed to make even more noise after the release as it became the second highest grossing Vijay film, and amassed over Rs 400 crore at the global box-office. Close on the heels of celebrating the 25th day of its successful run in theatres worldwide, it was announced that GOAT will begin its streaming run on Netflix from October 3.

Sharing this update on Netflix’s official handle, the streamer wrote, “Ever seen a lion become a G.O.A.T?! Thalapathy Vijay’s The G.O.A.T- The Greatest Of All Time is coming to Netflix on 3 October in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi.” The lion reference here is taken from a dialogue uttered by a character played by YG Mahendran that hypes up an ageing intelligence agent, who decides to return to the service after a long sabbatical.
Directed by Venkat Prabhu, GOAT starred Vijay in the dual roles of Gandhi and his son Jeevan. The film was much-anticipated for the extensive usage of de-aging technology, and it did considerable justice to the same. Also featuring the likes of Prashanth, Sneha, Prabhu Deva, Laila. Mohan, Jayaram, and Ajmal, GOAT had music by Yuvan Shankar Raja and cinematography by Siddhartha Nuni.

After GOAT, Vijay is prepping for his final film before bowing out of the cinema arena. Titled Thalapathy 69, the project would be helmed by H Vinoth, and backed by KVN Productions. With music by Anirudh Ravichander, the makers of Thalapathy 69 on Tuesday announced that Bollywood actor Bobby Deol would be part of the project.
