The makers of Amaran dropped a teaser revolving around actress Sai Pallavi on Friday. The 90 second video introduced Pallavi as Indhu Rebecca Varghese, the wife of late Major Mukund Varadharajan. The role of Major Mukund, who was awarded the Ashoka Chakra, the nation’s highest peacetime gallantry award, posthumously, is being played by actor-producer Sivakarthikeyan.
Taking to their official X handle, Raaj Kamal Films International shared a video and wrote, “Cupid strikes Amaran. Sai Pallavi as Indhu Rebecca Varghese, the Heart of Amaran.”
The teaser opens with Prime Minister Narendra Modi presenting the Ashok Chakra to Indhu, played by Sai Pallavi. The teaser further shares a glimpse into the poignant love story of Major Mukund Varadharajan and Indhu Varghese, told from Indhu’s point of view.
Recently, at an event, Sivakarthikeyan spoke about the challenges of portraying a soldier and his experience of spending time with real soldiers during Amaran’s shoot in Kashmir. The actor expressed deep respect, stating that his efforts as an actor paled in comparison to the soldiers’ real-life sacrifices for the nation.
Directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, Amaran is based on the life of Major Mukund Varadharajan, who lost his life fighting terrorists in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir. According to the Ashok Chakra citation, Major Varadarajan, a company commander, swiftly deployed troops and evacuated civilians from a house occupied by terrorists. The terrorists had targeted polling booths a day earlier. The officer who, along with his men, neutralised the terrorists “avenged the killing of the election officials within 24 hours and restored faith of public in democracy and the Indian Army.”
Produced by Kamal Haasan, R Mahendran, and Sony Pictures International Productions, the film is set to release on October 31.
On the work front, Sai Pallavi also has Thandel, starring Naga Chaitanya, in her kitty.
