Actor Alia Bhatt has an admirer in one of the best Indian actors of all time: Shabana Azmi. The veteran actor says if there is one artiste who truly represents being a “superstar”, it is Alia.
Shabana, one of the leading faces of Hindi cinema’s parallel movement, credited Alia for being a terrific performer blessed with sharp instincts. The veteran noted how skillful Alia is in playing diverse parts.
When asked by Indianexpress.com who she would choose as the one actor who represents the superstar status very well, Shabana Azmi said it is Alia Bhatt and added, “She is a very fine actor. Although she gives the effect of being very effortless on set, her instincts are very good. I have seen her in a lot of diverse roles.”
The veteran actress was speaking at IIFA Utsavam, where she was joined by her screenwriter husband Javed Akhtar. At the recent Expresso event, Akhtar had also showered praise on Alia.

“With Gangubai, Alia, today, is perhaps one of the few finest actors. Actually, I feel she is the finest but I am being diplomatic so other heroines don’t get upset,” he had said.
On the work front, Alia Bhatt is currently awaiting the release of her latest actioner Jigra. The film is produced by Karan Johar and directed by Vasan Bala, known for his Netflix thriller Monica O My Darling. Jigra is gearing up for an October 11 theatrical release.
